Stays with a balcony or garden for a sukkah
Sukkah space is the most requested feature on Kbnbs in the weeks before Sukkot, and the hardest to judge from photographs. A balcony can look perfect and be unusable because of the flat above it; a modest garden can be ideal. What matters is open sky, not square footage.
Because it is seasonal, hosts with genuinely suitable space tend to say so plainly, and those properties book out first. If you are travelling for Sukkot, start here rather than filtering by anything else.
What to check before you book
- Open sky directly above, with no balcony, awning or tree in the way.
- Whether the host supplies the sukkah or only the space.
- Access — carrying a sukkah through a third-floor flat is a different proposition to a garden gate.
- Whether the building puts up a communal sukkah guests may use.
